Hi my name is Daniel Markov, I’m in 11th grade, and.I’ve always had an interest in film. As a kid, I had always loved superhero’s, and as a result, I loved superhero movies. Marvel and DC films always caught my eye. As I got older, I began taking interest in smaller movies that weren’t necessarily as popular as a typical superhero movie. From this point forwards, my knowledge on different films expanded further and further, and I hope to further expand my knowledge through this class. It was especially thanks to my dad that I got into movies. He is the only person in my family that really has a wide understanding of movies. Movies from Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarantino are ones that me and my dad especially enjoy. I still feel however, that I don’t have a good enough understanding of how films are actually made. I can watch a film and understand the basic story structure, and I can be aware of good acting when I see it, but I don’t really get everything that must happen behind the scenes to create a successful film. How do you pitch you’re film to a studio? What equipment will best match the type of movie you are making? How do you go about explaining you’re vision to you’re actors? How do you decide what goes into the final cut of you’re movie? I feel that decisions like these are probably important to make in the process of filmmaking. These decisions, however, are decisions I still don’t know how to make. Hopefully through this class, I will learn how to think more critically in the process of filmmaking. When I finish a movie, I can often have a difficult time understanding what the movie is meant to be. Many movies do however have a message that is up for interpretation. I do hope that if I understand the art of filmmaking, I can understand film batter a s whole.
