Introduction of the Music Video Project

For this project I chose to work alone because due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its a bit difficult to meet up with other group members, especially in public locations. If I were to work with a partner on this project, it would have to be mostly over calls or texts. This wouldn’t really work for a music video. By working alone I also have the ability to have more control over my project. I can easily decide which song to choose, how my storyboard should look, and more. Working with a partner may mean that I would have to change some of the elements of my music video. Especially if I’m working with a group of four people, with each person having a different vision of what the music video should be. So for my project I have chosen to use the song “Gettin’ my Mom On” by Jack Stauber because first of all, I’ve always loved Jack Stauber’s music, and second of all, I think that using this song can allow me to use animation in my music video in a unique way. I think Jack Stauber’s music has a very unique beet to it. His music also constantly jumps back and forth between dark and light-hearted themes. “Gettin my Mom On” , for example was a song that Stauber made in response to someone telling him to get a real job. Stauber figured that being a mom is the most difficult job there is. The main reason I chose his music is because in a lot of his music video’s, he uses animation. Seeing as we are stuck at home at the moment, this would be the perfect opportunity to stay inside, and animate a music video. Also the whole idea of “Gettin’ my Mom On” seem like a very fun idea that would be easy to animate into a story. In many of Jack Stauber’s music videos, he also purposely makes the animations look a little sloppy, and homemade. Once again, this is perfect considering I will be doing this at home. If I do a really bad job at animating, I can use that to my  advantage and make the animations more stylized. It’s almost like a backup plan. I think that by choosing “Gettin’ my Mom On” as my song, I have an opportunity to try a lot of new things when making my music video.
