My Commercial
Overall, I had a lot of fun doing this project although I do feel the quality of my work could be improved. I think that this leads back heavily to production design. Before I began gathering materials and before I began the filming process, there was a lot of items, props, and set pieces that I assumed I just had. I only began gathering my materials once it actually came to beginning the filming process. Next time, I’ll make sure to be certain that I have the props and materials that I need during the planning process. By doing this activity, I learned how to overlap my audio while editing. This is something that I haven’t done before, but I found it very useful during this project. It was especially useful because I wanted to have background music overlapping with audio of my voice in the finished commercial. I also learned how to use the app auto desk sketchbook so that i can learn how to edit photos. Since you cant edit that many effects onto different scenes though the iMovie app, editing different png’s on to an image and then inserting that image into iMovie proved to be a easy way around the problem. I also learned how to separate audio from different clips I found online. This was also important because I found lots of great audio from YouTube videos online, but I didn’t want to include the YouTube video itself, I just wanted the audio. I learned that I can include the video in my project, detach the audio from that video, an delete the video that was not needed. I would then insert the audio into the appropriate part of my commercial. My main takeaway from this project is that I have to improve the quality of my work. I think that my ideas were interesting, but once I made my ideas into a reality I think my finished product didn’t do my ideas justice. Once again, this goes along with the idea that I should improve my planning process and make sure I have the proper materials in order to match my original concept. One aspect that I also enjoyed when making thsi project is storyboarding. I had heard and seen pictures of storyboards before, but I’ve never been that familiar with them. Now I understand how story boards help to illudtarate my ideas during the planning process.
