I would say that my production process and production quality has improved greatly since my last project. For example, I’m my commercial project the cuts in my video were very abrupt, but in my music video I was able to make my abrupt cuts match up with different beat drops in my music.By doing this, i feel that my abrupt cuts are more stylized. Also, I chose to have an orange filter in my music video. Again, this makes the final product feel more stylized, especially compared to my commercial. If I were to change anything, it would be my animation. I didn’t end up practicing my animation skills as much as I would have wanted to, and therefor my animation looks a little sloppy. I don’t think it came out horrible, but I can definitely do better. I would have also tried to plan out the timing of all my scenes better. By deciding the number of seconds that each take would’ve been ahead of time, It would have been easier to have it be at one minute. Since I didn’t go through with this plan ahead of time, I had to do a lot more editing than I originally anticipated. Whether that’s shortening scenes done, removing scenes entirely, or change the speed of different takes. I am glad that i did however switch up the locations during shooting of my music video. In my commercial I only filmed in my room. In my music video however, I filmed in both my room and my buildings hallway. Even though these are two locations that are right next to each other, I’ve found that a just a small change in scenery can come a long way. By doing this project, I think I’ve learned how to use my surroundings to my advantage. Just by considering my buildings shopping carts, I was able to construct an entire scene. A scene that i would not have thought of before. By fully acknowledging the setting’s and materials at my disposal, I was able to be more creative in the creation of my music video.
Below is my final task, the opening to my film “Dimensions”. This has been a lot of fun to work with, from the very beginning stages of writing the script, all the way to the editing. I feel that doing this project has given me a good understanding of what it’s like to make a film in the film industry. In total, I feel that I now understand the basic understanding of what it’s like to make a film. In other words, I have learned a lot of skills while making my film, and plan to use these skills on future projects.
When gathering the costumes that I was preparing fro my film I ran into a few issues that I hadn’t originally taken into account. I originally planned to have the following: a casual look with pants and short-sleeve, a fancy suit, and pajamas. Seeing as I’m working alone on the project, I will be the only one wearing these costumes. My story is supposed to begin with my character preparing for his birthday the night before. At this point, he is wearing his casual clothes, and he is preparing his suit to wear in the morning. I was originally thing of having the character then be in pajamas since this is at night, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable in pajamas while on camera so I decided not to do this. I also realized that parts of the story wouldn’t add up, because I wanted my character to already be in his suit the next morning. So I then changed the story so that the main character is so excite for his birthday, that he chooses to wear his birthday suit in his sleep. This way, the...
Before beginning the filming process, I made sure to gather my material and props together. The costumes that I planned to wear didn’t have to change once I began filming, since all my scenes would be filmed indoors. This also meant that none of my locations had to change either. As I stated before, I already planed on filming indoors, so I didn’t have to improvise much on set. I did however, change some parts that were from my storyboard. For example, I added a scene of my story’s protagonist staring at a colander with a specific date on it. Later on in the film, when the character enters another dimension, he finds that Sam Clarence rebut now it says a different date, even though it was the same day. This is meant to be a visual clue for the audience. Other than that, I didn’t end up changing much. I would go on to film my scenes in an order based on locations. By doing this, I didn’t have to waste any time and go back and forth between locations. I would film specific scenes wh...
