My Music Video



 I would say that my production process and production quality has improved greatly since my last project. For example, I’m my commercial project the cuts in my video were very abrupt, but in my music video I was able to make my abrupt cuts match up with different beat drops in my music.By doing this, i feel that my abrupt cuts are more stylized. Also, I chose to have an orange filter in my music video. Again, this makes the final product feel more stylized, especially compared to my commercial. If I were to change anything, it would be my animation. I didn’t end up practicing my animation skills as much as I would have wanted to, and therefor my animation looks a little sloppy. I don’t think it came out horrible, but I can definitely do better. I would have also tried to plan out the timing of all my scenes better. By deciding the number of seconds that each take would’ve been ahead of time, It would have been easier to have it be at one minute. Since I didn’t go through with this plan ahead of time, I had to do a lot more editing than I originally anticipated. Whether that’s shortening scenes done, removing scenes entirely, or change the speed of different takes. I am glad that i did however switch up the locations during shooting of my music video. In my commercial I only filmed in my room. In my music video however, I filmed in both my room and my buildings hallway. Even though these are two locations that are right next to each other, I’ve found that a just a small change in scenery can come a long way. By doing this project, I think I’ve learned how to use my surroundings to my advantage. Just by considering my buildings shopping carts, I was able to construct an entire scene. A scene that i would not have thought of before. By fully acknowledging the setting’s and materials at my disposal, I was able to be more creative in the creation of my music video.

 On Thursday, October 29 I began filming my commercial. There was actually quite a few things I realized I had to change about my commercial once I actually began filming. I had originally planned to print out multiple star-wars themed images onto computer paper so I can use that as a backdrop. With perfect timing however, my printer ran out of ink, and I didn’t want a black and white background. I then began searching for colored construction paper to create a different backdrop, but since the colors of the construction paper was so bright, any folds, imperfections, or dust on the paper would be very visible on film. I then just so happened to find 6 black canvas’s that reminded me of some of the backdrops that are supposed to represent the darkness of space in Star Wars. Storyboard blog

  First scene: During the first scene there will be the classic “A long time ago... In a galaxy far, far away...” Star Wars opening. I think that this will engage the audience because its such an iconic panel, that the the viewer will immediately have an understanding as to what my product relates to. Second scene: The first scene will then transition to the second scene through a scene. The second scene then shows the baby yoda toy that I am promoting. As I present the baby yoda toy I will include the audio: “A long time ago... In a galaxy far, far away... Comes the baby yoda figure from Hasbro!  Third scene: In this scene I will include a scene of the mandalorian looking back at baby yoda. This will be an actual scene from the show. This scenes purpose is to give some context on the mandalorian tv show, while also showing what the show looks like. Creative Critical Reflection

  Name: Daniel Markov______________   Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  I feel that my commercial doesn’t necessarily challenge the typical conventions used in toy commercials, but it definitely uses those conventions. For example, I used multiple product sin my commercial. Often times, toy commercials contain a main product, and some separate products. this is meant to tease the audience about separate toys or accessories that may connect to the main product that you are selling. In my commercial, I used the baby yoda toy as my main product, while the Darth Vader toy was my secondary product. I even said at the end of my commercial that “Darth Vader is sold separately.
