Production blog: Finalizing my Product

As I edited my footage into something more final I realize and that there were a few changes a needed to make. I had chosen to use the blockbuster filter for my film, but in the original cut of my footage I’m wearing a bright blue suit most of the time. After editing my footage I’ve realized that by using the blockbuster filter you really can’t see the blue. Therefor I did reshoots in which I wear a costume that that more closely coincides with the atmosphere created with my filter. Another key change was the crystal. In my original shots the protagonist finds a mysterious crystal that causes him to travel to other dimensions. In this original footage, there was this whole story in which the main character puts his fathers watch in his drawer. When he wake up the next morning he’s meant to find a crystal in the watches place. He also supposed to have received this watch as a gift the night before. The problem was that I simply couldn’t fit this footage into my project if I wanted to stay within the two minute mark. Therefor I cut this scene out, and changed the script so that whenever the characters watch is what allows him to ravel between dimensions. I realized the entire story about the crystal was overly complicated. I also new that I just wouldn’t be able to fit within that time limit. I also added my title sequence this week. Everything went pretty smoothly reading that, I simply used white backgrounds with black font, and added a photo my title design that I made in the Autodesk sketchbook app. The finishing touch was the sound and music. For my music I knew that I wanted music that I didn’t need to get the license to use, I figured it would jet be easier this way. I ended up just looking online and using “Evolution” from the Creative Commons attribution license. I also planned to narrate my story as though I’m reading from a diary, this would help to explain to the audience what the film is about. I simply recorded my own voice, and overlapped it with the footage I already had. I also overlapped the music using I was using into the background of the sound. With that being said, HS markets the conclusion of the opening to my film “Dimensions” I’ve had a blast making this, and am now looking forward to having a creative critical reflection on the work I have made.
