Production Blog: Technology and Software

Depending on the type of camera and materials you use to make you’re film, you might have drastically different visuals in the final product compared to the vision you had in mind. That’s why technology is incredibly important in you’re film, especially when it comes to cinematography. Seeing as I don’t have the budget for real film equipment, I tried my best with what I had. First there’s the camera. As my main camera I used my phone, the iPhone 11. It has a decent camera fro what its is. Definitely not movie quality, but it works. Then there is my iPad. This is where I plan to do all my editing, specifically because my iPad has the software I need, iMovie. iMovie is a video editing software that is only available on apple products. Its simple, and rather easy to and Ive already gotten used to using the software for past projects. Any footage gathered from my iPhone will be stored in my album to then be uploaded onto my iPad. All the new footage that will now be on my iPad will then be uploaded to the iMovie app to be edited. I also needed to find a way to use technology in order to create my films title sequence. This brought me to use the app: Autodesk Sketchbook. Autodesk Sketchbook is a free app that is used to create digital art. Seeing as typography in itself is and art form, this was the perfect place to create my title design. In order to create some had-made details in the title design, I used the Apple Pencil to draw on my iPad. The Apple Pencil acts much like a real pencil but instead its used for digital art. The image of my title would then be uploaded to my album, so that from their it can be uploaded in to iMovie as well.
