 Below is my creative critical reflection to my film, “Dimensions”. This was a lot of fun to work on because I got to look back son what did and didn’t work in my final product. In other words I was able to look back on things I would’ve changed in my film, so that I can improve future projects going forward.

 Below is my final task, the opening to my film “Dimensions”. This has been a lot of fun to work with, from the very beginning stages of writing the script, all the way to the editing. I feel that doing this project has given me a good understanding of what it’s like to make a film in the film industry. In total, I feel that I now understand the basic understanding of what it’s like to make a film. In other words, I have learned a lot of skills while making my film, and plan to use these skills on future projects.

 As I edited my footage into something more final I realize and that there were a few changes a needed to make. I had chosen to use the blockbuster filter for my film, but in the original cut of my footage I’m wearing a bright blue suit most of the time. After editing my footage I’ve realized that by using the blockbuster filter you really can’t see the blue. Therefor I did reshoots in which I wear a costume that that more closely coincides with the atmosphere created with my filter. Another key change was the crystal. In my original shots the protagonist finds a mysterious crystal that causes him to travel to other dimensions. In this original footage, there was this whole story in which the main character puts his fathers watch in his drawer. When he wake up the next morning he’s meant to find a crystal in the watches place. He also supposed to have received this watch as a gift the night before. The problem was that I simply couldn’t fit this footage into my project if I wanted ...

  Since I used Thursday as an extra day of filming, I had very few scenes left to film during the weekend. Once I finished filming my additional scenes, I had the rest of the weekend to do my editing. To begin, I uploaded all my footage into an Apple editing app called iMovie. Once I uploaded all my footage in the correct order, It was time to begin editing. I started off by adding transitions. Overall, I ended up just using simple cuts from scene to scene. I felt that cuts that seemed too decorative would distract from the more serious tone of the story. I did however, use a fade at the end of my footage. There is s scene later on were my character gouache a crystal. As soon as he touches it, there is supposed to be white beam of light. This light I supposed o be so white that it envelops the screen. So to create this scene I used the shot of the character touching the crystal, and a shot of a completely white screen, and added a fade transition in between the two scenes. By doing...

 Today happened to be a short day at school, so I figured I could switch up my schedule and use the is extra time to keep filming. This is something that Ive especially found useful when filming, because Ive realized something new about my movie. My script follows the story of a guy who wakes up, and finds himself in an endless loop as travels between realities. With each reality being incredibly similar, my film takes inspiration from films similar to Groundhog Day. In my story, however, the main character keeps on reliving the same morning over and over agin across multiple dimensions. This being said, I’ve realized during filming that lighting changes a lot from he morning to the afternoon. Depending on the brightness and the shadows, you can tell what time of day a scene is taking place. This wasn’t  much of a problem for locations without any windows, because they wouldn’t be using any natural light anyways. Locations that did have windows, however would prove more diffic...

 To begin the filming process, I have chosen to film my scenes in the order of there appearance on screen. For me personally, thud I helped me keep track of what scenes I have yet to film. I separated this process between Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I had no school on Friday, meaning I had a three day weekend to film. On Friday night, I started filming my first few scenes. I chose to film at night because my film starts the night before the main protagonist birthday. We follow the story through the main characters point of view, as he gets ready for the next day. To follow this story I used my iPhone 11 to film. Its pretty easy to use, as it basically acts as a hand-held camera. As I filmed I used my room as the main setting to start with, and different props such as a suit, watch, and diary.
